The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, Dr Allen Onyema, has praised Fidelity Bank Plc for successfully repaying its $400 million Eurobond at maturity.
Onyema described the achievement as a strong sign of financial strength, discipline and visionary leadership.
In a congratulatory message on behalf of Air Peace’s Board, Management and Staff, he commended the bank for meeting its obligations throughout the Eurobond’s five-year tenure. He also praised its decision to repay the debt entirely from internal funds.
He credited the milestone to the leadership of Fidelity Bank’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe. According to him, her foresight has continued to improve the bank’s financial position and reputation in Nigeria’s banking sector.
Onyema also applauded Fidelity Bank for completing its recapitalisation ahead of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s deadline. He said both achievements showed the bank’s commitment to good corporate governance and sustainable financial management.
Highlighting the close relationship between banking and aviation, the Air Peace chairman stressed the need for financially strong institutions such as Fidelity Bank. He noted that access to funding remains vital to aviation, particularly for fleet expansion, stable operations and industry growth.
He added that strong partnerships between banks and indigenous businesses are essential to improving Nigeria’s economic competitiveness and supporting national development.
Onyema congratulated Dr Onyeali-Ikpe, the bank’s Board, Management and staff. He expressed confidence that Fidelity Bank would achieve even greater milestones.
He also reaffirmed Air Peace’s goodwill towards the bank, wishing it continued growth, lasting stability and further success in Nigeria’s financial services sector.
