Angel Lawson, the Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate, has outlined his Rivers State 2027 governorship ambition, promising to attract hundreds of international investors to the state if elected governor.
Lawson said his plan would focus on economic development, sustainable job creation, poverty reduction and stronger local industries.
He traced his interest in Rivers State’s economic transformation to October 2010, when he participated in an international investors’ delegation known as the Nordic Energy Delegation.
According to him, the delegation visited Abuja following an invitation from former President Goodluck Jonathan. It brought together international business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors to explore investment opportunities in Nigeria.
Lawson said his ambition to contribute to Rivers State’s development had remained unchanged over the past 16 years. He also identified his membership of the CFA Institute and a Finnish investment organisation as part of his professional background.

The ADP candidate said he planned to facilitate international investments in strategic sectors from 2027. He added that public-private partnerships and international collaborations would support the plan.
Furthermore, Lawson said Rivers State could use its natural and human resources to expand economic opportunities and improve living standards.
However, he acknowledged that achieving these objectives would require collective participation and responsibility.
He also cited the state’s approximately 3.7 million registered voters, describing the 2027 governorship election as an opportunity for residents to participate in deciding the state’s leadership.
Lawson said his interest in investment promotion, employment generation and poverty alleviation predated his decision to contest the governorship election.
He concluded with the message: “One Rivers. One People. One Future.”
