The Federal Government has announced five digital banks and mobile money platforms through which selected Nigerians will receive its ₦50,000 cash grant under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI).
According to the programme’s guidelines, beneficiaries will receive their payments through ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo PSB, NairaGram, OPay and Moniepoint. Each platform provides mobile wallet services, allowing recipients to withdraw or spend their money.
The government said selected beneficiaries would receive an SMS from their assigned payment providers once their wallets had received the funds.
The approved platforms and their USSD codes are:
-
ALAT (Wema Bank): Dial 94523#.
-
MoMo PSB: Dial 6710#.
-
NairaGram: Dial 72600#.
-
OPay: Dial 95520# or use its mobile application.
-
Moniepoint: Dial 557327# or use its mobile application.
How to receive the ₦50,000 grant
The NERSI ₦50,000 grant targets poor and vulnerable Nigerian households. The government will identify beneficiaries through verified national identity records and the National Social Register.
Selected individuals will receive an SMS from one of the five approved payment providers. They must reply YES to confirm their willingness to participate.
After confirmation, the payment provider will create a mobile wallet linked to the recipient’s phone number and National Identification Number (NIN). The government will then credit the ₦50,000 support to the wallet.
Recipients can withdraw their ₦50,000 cash grant through Point of Sale (POS) agents or banks. They can also use the money directly from their mobile wallets.
FG warns Nigerians against fraud
The government has stressed that the programme is completely free. Beneficiaries do not need to pay registration fees, visit government offices or make payments to secure a place on the list.
It also warned Nigerians against fraudsters demanding money to facilitate selection or payment.
The authorities advised beneficiaries never to share their PINs, one-time passwords (OTPs) or banking passwords with anyone, including agents and government officials.
Genuine notifications will only come from the five approved payment providers. Recipients should only be asked to reply YES or use their provider’s designated USSD code.
The government also clarified that the first payment batch will not cover every eligible household. Nobody can pay to guarantee inclusion.
The Humanitarian Assistance Programme, managed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, aims to support vulnerable households struggling with rising living costs.
