Executive Chairman, Inu Kan Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ibadan, Mr Lanre Adesina, has accused the governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Oluseyi Makinde, of lying publicly by claiming that the council’s secretariat is housed in his father’s property which he gave the council for free.

Adesina said Makinde made the claim while participating in a popular Yoruba programme on Fresh FM, Ibadan Saturday morning. The programme is hosted by popular presenters Olalomi Amole and Komolafe Olaiya.

Inu Kan LCDA was carved out of Ona Ara Local Government with Ajia village as its headquarters. Makinde hails from Ajia.

According to the council boss, the council secretariat is housed by a building owned by Ona Ara Local Government which is located beside the village’s health centre. He said the government renovated the building and uses it till date as its secretariat, faulting Makinde’s claim that the state government did not have a building for the LCDA it created, meaning that he came to the rescue of the government by providing the building he named after his late father.

Stressing that the council never had to use Makinde’s building for any reason, Adesina said somebody of Makinde’s stature in the society, and who is aspiring to govern a whole state, is not supposed to tell such lies.

But reacting, Makinde’s spokesman, Mr Akeem Azeez, said the government actually approached his boss for the building and was eventually donated after the intervention of a notable elder in the city, Chief Theophilus Akinyele. He said Makinde constructed the building to serve as a multipurpose hall for the community, adding that it was named after the politician’s father.

“If they are no longer using the building, does that make Engr. Seyi Makinde a lair?” He queried.
