Nigerian Army has confirmed that no fewer than 16 Boko Haram militants have been killed while attempting to infiltrate two military locations in Borno State.
Coordinating Army Spokesman, Aminu Iliyasu, who made this disclosure in a statement released on Friday, said that the insurgents attempted to attack troops based in two places in Abadam area of Borno State.
Iliyasu said the Boko Haram insurgents came with improvised explosive devices, gun trucks, rocket propelled grenades and other small arms.
”The dogged troops responded swiftly, outgunning and decimating insurgents and forcing them to withdraw in disarray, Notwithstanding, it was apparent that most of the criminal Boko Haram insurgents escaped with serious gunshot wounds as traces of blood were seen along their escape route,” he said.
The army spokesman said one soldier was killed while four other soldiers were wounded in action.
According to him,wounded soldiers are currently in a military medical facility and are positively responding to treatment.
