At least 12 people were reportedly slain by gunmen on Sunday in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Residents claimed that the incident happened in the Fulani community of Mubizen in the Pangri District.
According to a Fulani elder named Ardo Bello, the attackers entered the town while wearing uniforms and acting as members of a neighborhood vigilante group before wreaking havoc.

Bello reported that 50 individuals, mostly women and children, are still missing following the attack and that 130 cows were also stolen from the neighborhood by the assailants.
Usman Abdullahi, the state’s police spokesperson, confirmed the event to media and stated that four individuals had been detained in connection with the assault.
The local government of Bali’s council headquarters, Bali Town, is about 30 kilometers away from the settlement.
