On November 22, 2022, Justice Ambrose Allagoa of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, will render a decision in the criminal case brought by the federal government against Kenneth Amadi, a former employee of Eunisell Limited.
After all parties’ attorneys adopted their final written addresses on Tuesday, the judge set the date.
Through the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, the government accused Amadi of participating in a N2.9 billion fraud (OAGF).
In the most recent hearings, Justice Allagoa rejected Amadi’s “no-case submission,” which challenged the government’s claim that he committed fraud totaling N2.9 billion.
The judge ruled that the prosecution brought up questions that obliged Amadi to provide responses, which led the court to order him to launch his defense.
Amadi had argued that the prosecution had no right to be in court because there was no evidence to support their case against him.
He pleaded with the court to drop the criminal accusation against him, clear him of all charges, and release him immediately.
However, in response, the prosecution urged that Justice Allagoa disregard the defendant’s petitions because a case had been built against him and he was required to present a defense. The defense requested that the court order Amadi to begin his defense.
Amadi and his business, IDID Nigeria Limited, are specifically being tried in front of the court on five counts of conspiracy and N2.9 billion fraud.
