The Nigerian Petroleum Development Corporation (NPDC) and Natural Oil Field Service Limited (NOSL), two oil corporations that operate in Akwa Ibom State, have affirmed their commitment to continuing to provide due care and sustenance for the welfare of their host communities.

The corporations underlined that improving the educational system is at the core of their community development initiatives in a statement made available to The Nation. As a result, the NOFSL donated educational and recreational materials to schools in the state’s four local governments regions of Onna, Ikot Abasi, Mkpat-Enin, and Eastern Obolo. These materials included executive seats, tables, and standard football fields.

According to Etete Ekpo, base manager at NOFSL, “NPDC and NOFSL will continue to help them in their capacity by contributing to the educational and non-educational development of the selected schools.”

According to Ekpo, “They have also acted as educational champions and taken on the duty to offer fundamental infrastructure, training programs, and capacity building for teachers and students with the purpose to push excellent education and sustainable growth.”

Ruth Oke-Ojugo, the principal of Oniong West Secondary School in Ikot-Edor, one of the benefiting schools, said the furniture would be of immeasurable worth and would raise teacher morale. The volleyball equipment donated to the school would help those of our pupils who enjoy athletics since it will enable them to practice and excel at the activity, according to Oke-Ojugo.

Community Secondary School in Iko Town, Onna Peoples High School in Abat, Okoromita Comprehensive Secondary School in Okoroete, Government Primary School in Ikonta/Obianga, Government Primary School in Iwofa, Methodist Central School in Ete, and Government Secondary School in Ibotio-Ndon are just a few of the other schools that benefited from the generosity.
