32-year-old male is taken into custody for fraud, and police find 10 ATM cards

While conducting a surveillance patrol, agents of the Adamawa State Police Command detained a 32-year-old man at a First Bank ATM location along Bank road in Yola North LGA.

Joseph Nwakibe, the suspect, was born in Nnewi South, Anambra State, and currently resides in Makurdi, Benue State. He was detained on November 8, 2022.

The suspect was claimed to have accepted an invitation to Yola from his acquaintance Obinna Ajima, who is now at large, for combined fraudulent activities, according to a statement issued by SP Sulaiman Nguroje, the spokesperson for the Adamawa Police.

Investigations have shown that the suspects roam the streets with several expired ATM cards from different banks and wait for their victims. Typically, they line up behind patrons while pretending to withdraw money. Then, they usually offer to help anyone they believe is having trouble with a transaction while secretly recording their ATM pin number.
