This was said by Obi on Tuesday in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state, when he paid a visit to His Eminence Dr. Sunday Mbang, a former prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria and president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Regularly attending church functions, according to the Labour Party candidate, is not a political move.

Obi’s remarks follow allegations from the opposition parties, which charged him with attending religious events for political purposes.

He claimed that Nigeria required prayers in addition to a nimble, healthy, and visionary leader.

He cited the kidnapping of priests in the North Central and North West areas as evidence that religious leaders must speak truth to power because the church is also affected by the nation’s problems.

The cleric lamented Nigeria’s predicament, stating that the nation is struggling with pervasive poverty and insecurity.

According to Dr. Mbang, Nigeria needs a strong, healthy leader who would put the needs of the people before those of a cabal or his political party.

He warned Obi that history will not be kind to him if he is elected and said that millions of Nigerians view him as their final chance to save the nation.
