According to Yunusa Tanko, the spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, the Labour Party leadership is unaware of a Town Hall meeting between Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, and organized labor unions.

On Monday in Abuja, Tinubu met with representatives of the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress among others.

The APC candidate was presented with requests from organized labor at the occasion, including a complete assault on corruption.

As some of the concerns he wishes to address as president, Tinubu mentioned unemployment, a lack of a credit system that would enable people to own homes, poverty, difficulties in the educational sector, and a weak industrial base of the economy.

But Tanko claimed that, like every other Nigerian, they were unaware of the rendezvous until they heard about it.

Nevertheless, he insisted that there is no reason for concern and that the party does not share the rumored concern about a potential sabotage by labor leaders.

“The TUC and NLC are for everyone, but we were not notified of the meeting. Come and talk with us. But we are aware that they are the Labour Party’s owners.

“However, there is no need to be alarmed. We have no need to be afraid whether they meet with Tinubu and other leaders of the government party or not. However, I was unaware of the meeting already,” he continued.

The presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, however, gave an option of N500, 000 fine on each of the 26 count charges, totalling N13m for which he was found guilty. The former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, opted to pay the fine of N13 million to beat the 4:30pm deadline given by the judge.

However, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the presiding judge, offered a N500, 000 fine as an alternative to each of the 26 counts of charges, which came to N13 million in total and for which he was found guilty.

In order to meet the judge’s deadline of 4:30 p.m., the former Senior Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan chose to pay the N13 million punishment.
