In Kaduna, the Police Command said its operatives captured a suspected bandit and gunrunner and recovered four AK47 weapons with 344 rounds of ammunition and his functioning motorcycle.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, Muhammad Jalige, on December 23, at approximately 17:30 hrs, operatives attached to Tudun Wada Zaria, while on surveillance patrol in the Kwarkwaron Manu, Basawa area of Zaria metropolitan, intercepted two men on an unregistered motorcycle carrying bags.
“On being flagged down for search, the motorcycle passenger leapt down and ran, further raising the suspicion of the operators.
“The motorcycle and the rider, who gave his identification as one Bilyaminu Saidu aged 33 years of Shuwaki village, Bakori LGA of Katsina State, were immediately subjected to a thorough search which resulted to his arrest.
“Among the goods found were four AK47 guns, 344 rounds of 7.62mm live ammo, telephones, and charms,” he stated.
According to Jalige, the accused suspect was apprehended, and preliminary inquiry revealed that he and his fleeing companion were on a devious mission to provide his group with offensive weaponry.
