Traders are counting their losses after a fire destroyed the Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan, Oyo State, early Saturday, January 14.
According to DailyPost, the fire incident, which began around 2 a.m., affected approximately forty-five (45) shops.
Confirming the incident, the General Manager of the State Fire Service, Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka, said: “Our men are at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they are putting off the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning.
At 5:00 a.m., the fire was put out. A cooling down operation is underway to prevent a resurgence. I’m on my way to an on-the-spot evaluation.
I can’t say how many shops there are right now because it’s an emergency. It began in the middle of the night. 45 shops”.
