Several people were injured, including two members of the Benue State House of Assembly, when the state governor’s convoy, led by Samuel Ortom, was involved in a car accident.
The accident happened on Friday morning as the governor and Peoples Democratic Party supporters were on their way to the Utokon community of Ado Local Government Area to continue the party’s governorship campaign rally.
According to our correspondent, the incident occurred when the driver of a branded bus full of PDP supporters lost control and collided with three vehicles: a Jeep, a security vehicle, and another bus in the convoy.
Several people were injured, including state legislators from Guma and Kwande West in the state assembly.
Other vehicles were also affected by the incident, which occurred at 10:50 a.m. on Friday.
The convoy’s motorcade included the state’s deputy governor, Engr Benson Abounu, Senator Abba Moro, House of Representatives and House of Assembly members from the Benue South district, as well as other top government and party officials in the state.
Meanwhile, an ambulance attached to the convoy transported the injured to the hospital, while the rest of the passengers continued their journey.
