On Friday, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, claimed that Nigeria had become a failed state due to the mismanagement that had led to poverty and insecurity.
But if granted the chance to run for president on February 25, 2023, he pledged to restore the nation to its former glorious state, as desired by all.
The former governor of Anambra State and business magnate appeared at a Leadership Town Hall hosted by the University of Abuja’s Abuja Leadership Centre. He also pledged to end “sharing of government’s money” if re-elected.
Obi also promised to make Nigeria a productive country by creating jobs for the booming labor market.
He claimed that Nigeria is best regarded as a failed state because of the widespread poverty and instability in the nation and that its leaders no longer have complete control over it.
A new Nigeria is conceivable, he said, emphasizing that his administration will quickly reverse the situation. He blamed Nigeria’s problems on leadership failure over the years that has refused to do the right thing.
The Labour Party candidate also bemoaned the fact that, despite the immense difficulties, nothing but poverty is being produced in the nation.
“A new Nigeria is possible,” he added. What will we do to bring about that new Nigeria? I don’t want to bore you with the situation because I could talk about the crisis in Nigeria all day, but let’s start with what makes a country rich or poor. Human development index is one example of it. simply, per capita, health, and education. The people of your country will be out of trouble if you fix these three problems.
“Let no one convince you that the adversary or the criminal is more formidable; they are not. The problem is a lack of leadership. A governance security framework that solves the issues is still missing. I’ll take care of that with Datti.
“We won’t offer any justifications. We want you to be accountable to us. Government is necessary. We can’t share it with anyone; one person must rule. In parallel with this, we must begin helping individuals escape poverty. Nigeria must transition from being a consumer to a producer in order to achieve this. Nothing is produced in Nigeria.
“This country wastes everyone’s time by sharing, so we want to replace the sharing formula with a formula for production. Based on our resources, we shall take on the production of this nation.
Nine of Nigeria’s ten poorest states are in the north, and those nine states can feed the country and turn it into a superpower since the country can make much more money from agriculture than from oil. God has given us land, but we are unable to even provide for ourselves. Nigerians occupy one-third of India’s land yet are unable to feed themselves, whereas 1.4 billion people live in India on 3.2 million square kilometers of land. It cannot go on; it is unacceptable.
He declared that his administration will first protect security and unity before trying to restore order in Nigeria. “The only product this nation produces is poverty. What are our goals? Without protecting the nation, you are powerless to do anything. We will unite and secure the nation. People need to be protected. What we require is a governance framework that takes care of these issues. I’ve promised to take care of that matter with Datti.
“Nothing is being produced in Nigeria. We wish to get rid of the sharing formula because it has been wasting everyone’s time in this country. Money sharing will end under my leadership.
The election shouldn’t be influenced by race, religion, or the “it’s my turn” mindset, according to the former governor of Anambra State.
It is not their turn. Although I’m an Igbo, I’m more proud to be a Nigerian. I’m running because I have the best qualifications to help this nation.
“We wish to create for you a brighter future.
Not about us, really. They talk about having structure, but they actually only have a mechanism for stealing, he continued.
He declared that his administration would end fuel subsidies and referred to it as an organized crime in Nigeria.
“We have a long history as a country. What different actions will the politicians take. Numerous tales have been told to us in the past, yet they never changed.
