As a result of the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegedly withdrawing from lawsuits brought by the PDP in Rivers state against several opposition parties in the state, Governor Nyesom Wike has accused them of anti-party behavior.
In order to get several political parties in the State of Rivers disqualified from the general elections for what they deemed to be breaking rules and laws of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) when conducting their separate primaries, the PDP in Rivers had taken them to court.
The PDP national leadership directed the attorneys handling the various petitions to withdraw their representations, Governor Wike observed yesterday at Okehi 1 during a Rivers State PDP campaign rally for Etche Local Government Area.

“The persons in Abuja who claim to be nationals have gone to cooperate with them (opposition parties) to prepare a letter telling our lawyers to take a back seat, in an effort to scuttle the cases we filed,” one of them said. I’ve instructed our attorneys to stop working on the cases. I’ll get back at them by tomorrow.
No one can harm us without leaving a scar. I would leave him with many scars if he dares to touch us in Rivers State, and we have already started that. This is a vote for our people. Governor Wike emphasized the importance of winning the upcoming election and advised the Etche people to return home, prepare by obtaining their Permanent Voters Card from INEC, and support all PDP candidates running in the State.
He requested that the Etche people reciprocate by voting PDP continuity in the Rivers government. He listed the delivery of over eight essential road infrastructures, the location of a campus of Rivers State University in the region, and the appointment of their son as vice chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education among his promises kept for the Etche people.
Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the PDP candidate for governor of Rivers, appealed for the support of the Etche people so that he and the entire PDP team could build on the legacy of Wike. He also promised that, if elected, his administration would make sure that Rivers courts were never closed again.
The PDP candidate for governor claimed that his expertise and comprehension of governor Wike’s new Rivers Vision, which will serve as the cornerstone of his administration, will ensure his victory in the election on March 11.
