Hon. Justice Ayedun Olusegun Odusola is the state’s 12th Chief Judge and has been sworn in by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Up until the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) nomination, appointment by the governor, and acceptance by the State House of Assembly, Hon. Justice Odusola had been the acting chief judge of the state.
The governor also swore in the state’s new high court judges, Hon. Justices Bolatito Florence Ajibade, Bankole Jacob Akinwunmi, Leonard Boyede Ologun, and Femi Sylvester Akinbinnu.
Pastor Omofunmile Adejombo, Mrs. Omolola Akinseloyin, and Mr. Stanley Adeniyan were all officially inaugurated by Governor Akeredolu as members of the State Judicial Service Commission (JSC)
Their swearing-in ceremony was place in the Governor’s Office’s Cocoa Conference Hall in Alagbaka, Akure.
The governor referred to the top judge’s and other judges’ appointments as the highest accolade any citizen could get from society.
He claimed that their selection demonstrated their character fitness as well as their competency in the administration and practice of law.
“Despite the challenges faced by us, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 which had a negative impact on the finances of the State, we have continued to discharge our duties with utmost care and focus,” Akeredolu, who reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to support the judiciary, added.
The governor said that he had recently given his approval for the construction of a new ultra-modern court complex to begin right away.
The governor claims that the projected architectural masterpiece is planned to contain all the amenities of a contemporary court complex, including a library and 21 court halls.
In his acceptance address, the new Chief Judge thanked the governor for choosing him as the Chief Judge and four other individuals as Judges of the state High Court on the basis of the NJC’s proposal.
