The Awada Police Station, located close to Obosi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has once more been attacked by many gunmen.
According to reports, the thugs broke into the police station about 2:18 am on Monday and started fighting with the officers on duty. Three of the thugs are reportedly deceased as a result of the shooting.
The attack on the 3-3 Police Divisional Office in Oyi LGA, which left roughly six persons dead, occurred less than 24 hours ago.
A local source claimed that the thugs opened fire intermittently as they approached the police station and that the gunfire continued for several hours.
The source stated, “Again, in the early hours of morning, these hoodlums attempted to burn down the Awada Police Station, close to Obosi, Anambra State, in yet another deadly manner.
Three gang members were killed following a tense gunfight as the hoodlums were repelled by brave security guards.
He continued by saying that the trucks the gang utilized for the operation were also where two AK-47s were found.
While it was still unclear if any police officers had died, the specifics of the casualties were still vague.
Another local source, however, claimed that two police officers, including the Divisional Police Officer, were also harmed.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, did not answer calls or texts left on his phone, thus he could not be reached for comment.
