The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has a new chairman in Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, a former special adviser on political matters to Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State.
The vacancy was filled on Friday by the state working committee of the party in Taraba. Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd), the incumbent governor of Taraba State and previous state chairman of the party (PDP), resigned from the position six months ago to run for governor.
On March 24, 2021, Agbu was chosen to lead the party in the state. He served in that position for two years before announcing his resignation. Hence, Bawa was chosen to complete Agbu’s four-year term, which would end in August 2024.
In his inaugural address, he urged the party faithful to remain steadfast and together in order to aid the new governor in developing the state.
Bawa also pledged to maintain a cordial working relationship with the state working committee and party members, both locally and nationally, in order to increase the party’s prospects of success in the upcoming elections.
