With effect from the first term of the 2023/2024 academic year, the Borno government has implemented a new dress code for Muslim pupils attending government secondary schools throughout the state.

In a statement released on Thursday in Maiduguri, Bukar Mustapha-Umara, Director, Schools Management, state Ministry of Education, made this claim.

According to the dress code, he claimed that all students are required to enter the building with a himar (veil), a quarter-neck blouse, and a head tie.

The director announced that all secondary school principals were hereby ordered to ensure complete adherence to the new dress code.

However, it is optional for the Christian female pupils. They might continue to wear their current attire or switch to trousers, Mustapha-Umara remarked.

Before the start of the academic year in 2023–2024, he urged parents and students to make sufficient preparations for the new school uniform.(NAN)
