After his May 29 inauguration, President-elect Bola Tinubu swore never to betray the faith that millions of Nigerians have placed in him as the country’s leader.
In his acceptance address on May 25, 2023, in the presidential palace in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari presented him with the National Honor of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic.
He affirmed that he is aware of the significance of the honor conferred upon him and the duty that goes along with it. “I am aware of the gravity of the honor bestowed upon me today and the work at hand.
Nigerians ought to expect no less. He answered, “You (Buhari) have set the course, and I won’t let you down.”
Tinubu joins the ranks of Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obafemi Awolowo, Shehu Shagari, Olusegun Obasanjo, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha, Umaru Yar’Adua, Goodluck Jonathan, and Moshood Abiola as the 16th recipient of the GCFR Honor.
