Tunji Wusu –
Following the digitalization of its systems for e-learning during the flood season, the management of the University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) claims to have given parents and guardians of students access to track the academic progress of their wards online.
The institution’s management also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding and exploring opportunities presented by the institution’s digitization in order to further improve research and academic quality.
It claimed that the choice of training institutions and partners inside and outside of Bayelsa State for the University of Africa Toru-Orua (UAT) was largely due to the use of information and communication technology (ICT) instruments.
This was said by Professor Barclays Foubiri Ayakoroma, UAT’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics, during his keynote address at the just finished 2023 Press Week, which was held at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Yenagoa and sponsored by the Bayelsa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists.
Prof. Barclays Ayakoroma advocated participatory media actions that will enable citizens to access, critically analyze, and interpret media contents, which will help to build confidence and guard against fake news, when speaking on the theme “Expanding Media Knowledge for Better Information Management In The Niger Delta Region.”
The University Don emphasized that political sensitization must improve as Bayelsans get ready for the Governorship election on November 11th since the media’s role is still vital to a credible and successful election in Bayelsa State.
