President Bola Tinubu, according to Sen. Abdullahi Gumel, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), has demonstrated a strong dedication for restoring optimism in Nigeria during his first 100 days in office.
At a press conference held on Monday in Abuja to commemorate the President’s 100 days in office, Gumel said this.
He claims that the activities that have occurred during that time show that the president is ready to revive the Nigerian economy.
He declared: “Tinubu’s courage to announce fuel subsidy removal on May 29 shows his determination to put Nigeria on the path of economic growth and sustainability.”
Gumel praised the President’s political fortitude in making a risky decision that many governments before him had refrained from, saying it demonstrated his “love for Nigeria.”
He added that the President was aware of the impacts of the subsidy reduction and was taking steps to mitigate them.
“When President Tinubu declared the abolition of the oil subsidy, which has grown into a cankerworm, at the start of this administration, it was clear that he was committed to revitalizing the economy.
We thank him for such step since such a risky measure “can only be taken by someone with political will,” the speaker remarked.
He claimed that despite efforts by subsidy recipients to undermine his efforts, the President was committed to making sure that the leakage caused by the subsidy scheme was entirely stopped.
The recipients of subsidies will do anything to undermine this administration.
Nigerians should thus exercise patience since the president is making every effort to minimize the impact of the subsidy termination.For instance, the N5 billion given to state governments and other actions taken to lessen the effects of the subsidy reduction are all proof that he cares about Nigerians.
The current administration is working to make sure that fuel prices are reasonable.
“I have no doubt that the hardship will be short-lived,” he continued, “with the Dangote Refinery coming on board, the resuscitation of some of our refineries, and ongoing discussions around modular refineries.”
In addition to eliminating subsidies, he said that Tinubu appointed and swore in his ministers within the first 100 days of taking office, and that they immediately got to work.
A service chief who had “hit the ground running” may also be appointed by the President, he continued.
Gumel added that the President has traveled widely abroad in an effort to bring in investments to revive the economy.
“We can all speak to the fact that President Tinubu has remained focused on bringing the benefits of democracy to Nigerians in the face of several distractions, including the current electoral lawsuit,” he said.
The presidential adviser advised the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to continue interacting with committees established by the government toward finding a long-term solution to the issue rather than going on strike in response to the suggested warning strike.

He claimed that going on strike will hinder economic growth and cause the nation to regress.
He argued that Nigerian workers should keep their distance from opposition groups that are doing all in their power to undermine the efforts of the current administration.
Gumel stated that the matter of open cabinet positions would be resolved once the National Assembly’s plenary session resumed.
He asserts that the names of rejected ministerial nominees would either be resubmitted for consideration or new names will be submitted for consideration to the national parliament.
He claimed that the President had the right to make the choice.
