Police Warn: No Gatherings Near Lekki Toll Gate for #EndSARS Anniversary.

The Lagos State Police Command has said that it will not put up with any kind of gathering at the state’s Lekki tollgate.

This declaration coincides with the planning of a nonviolent march by a number of civil society organizations to mark the third anniversary of the events that took place on October 20, 2020, during the #EndSARS protests in Lekki, Lagos.

In response, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, emphasized that no meeting or assembly of any type would be allowed close to the tollgate.

As long as they don’t interfere with traffic, Hundeyin, who announced this via his official X profile (previously Twitter), also guaranteed that law enforcement would be on standby to protect everyone taking part in the nonviolent march.

“Busses at/by Oriental Hotel suggests stopping/waiting of buses and passenger gathering,” the author said. To be clear, there would be no permitted gatherings or convergences of any kind near the toll gate.

“But as long as they aren’t impeding traffic, men from #LagosPoliceNG will be fully on the ground to ensure security for everyone taking part in the peaceful walk.”
