Babatunji Wusu –
Quadri Salami, a 100-level student at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, vanished, and the mystery surrounding her absence has been satisfactorily resolved by the Ogun State Police Command.
According to a statement made by Omolola Odutola, the command spokeswoman, Quadri’s father reported his son’s abrupt disappearance to the Kenta Police station on November 14, 2023. The distraught father said that he hadn’t seen his son since November 8 and that he had tried in vain to find him.
Odutola also disclosed that State Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu made a significant development on Wednesday. A shallow grave containing the deceased’s decayed body parts was discovered at Mile 6 in the Ajebo neighborhood of Abeokuta, under the direct leadership of the Commissioner and a Tactical Squad.
This happened after a tracking hint that resulted in Akeem Usman’s arrest after it was discovered that he had the victim’s phone.
According to the PPRO, “He (Akeem) implicated one Ifadowo Niyi, stating that both of them committed the heinous crime by killing Quadri and mutilating his vital parts for ceremonial purposes.”
He continued, saying that Ifadowo left with Quadri’s head and both of his wrists and transferred 100,000 Naira—the profits from the sale of the human body parts—into Akeem Usman’s account.
“After that, the suspects carried on selling the victim’s other body parts to online scammers on demand. They also utilized the remaining body parts for ‘awure,’ a crime against humanity, and buried the victim’s heart, two legs, and flesh inside plastic rubber for rituals.
The pair acknowledged in their confessional statement that they had performed ‘Osole,’ or money rites, using four additional human heads.
“The suspects are currently in Eleweran at SCID for the purpose of carrying out covert investigations, and they will undoubtedly face legal action,” stated Odutola.
“The CP is still dedicated to seeing that justice is done, and they will keep looking into this matter in order to hold all of the offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Declaring that such criminal activity puts innocent lives in jeopardy, the PRO further urged parents to cooperate with Ogun police by providing volunteer information in order to put an end to such evil actions.
