DISCO EXPLAINS THE CAUSE OF LAGOS’S RECENT POOR ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.

The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has provided an explanation for the recent outages in certain parts of Lagos State’s power supply.

The electricity distribution company provided an explanation in a statement posted on its official X handle, stating that the low allocation they received from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) was the cause of the recent epileptic power supply experienced in various parts of the state.

“Dear Appreciated Client, Please be advised that TCN’s low allocation is the cause of the recent decrease in power supply. Tedi Community, Irede Road, Dansa, Satellite Town, and the surrounding areas are affected. A statement from Eko DisCo said, “We are in continual communication with our partners to ensure that this is handled as quickly as feasible.

This development coincides with longer-than-usual power disruptions in various parts of Lagos State.

Next Year, Nigerians Will Have a Stable Electricity Supply—Minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maitama Tuggar, has declared that by the first half of 2024, Nigerians will have better access to electricity as a result of the Siemens gas agreement between Germany and Nigeria.

Speaking virtually from Berlin, Germany, Tuggar conveyed his assurance that President Bola Tinubu’s administration would skillfully handle the past setbacks.

“There will be a remarkable improvement in the electricity supply in Nigeria in the coming year, by the first half of next year (2024),” stated the Minister during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today show on Tuesday.

With a collaboration with Siemens Energy in Germany known as the Presidential Power Initiative, Nigeria’s power capacity will rise from the present 4,000 megawatts to 25,000 megawatts by 2025, as promised by the country’s immediate past president, Muhammadu Buhari, in 2018. This project hasn’t been completed, though.
