Babatunji Wusu –

The national grid’s collapse was confirmed earlier on Monday by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), which also stated that it had now been restored.
At approximately 1:49 PM on Monday, the grip broke, plunging Nigeria into complete darkness.

TCN General Manager Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, told reporters in a statement that the country’s electrical supply has been restored to the majority of its regions, with the Jos axis being the exception.

But, Mbah promised that within an hour of making the announcement, power will also be restored to the Jos region.

“The grid experienced a collapse today. Presently, supply has been restored except for the Jos Axis, which will soon have supply within the hour.

“The collapse happened by 1.49 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, and It is now fully restored,” Mbah said in the statement.

Remember that the TCN said in August that the Nigerian electricity system had reached a level of stability never before seen in the country’s history.

It claimed that for an astounding 400 days straight and counting, the grid had been running without any significant outages or system failures.

TCN said, “This milestone signifies a remarkable advancement in the nation’s efforts at strengthening its power infrastructure and ensuring a reliable and dependable electricity supply to distribution load centres for onward distribution to electricity customers nationwide.”
