Nigerian physicians living abroad have been asked by President Bola Tinubu to return home and help their communities. He claimed that by making significant expenditures and increasing funding for the sector in the planned 2024 budget, his administration is prioritizing and enhancing Nigeria’s health system.

At the State House in Abuja on December 12, the president made the announcement during the launch of Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative.

“My administration is steadfastly committed to preserving this right for every individual, young or old, in rural or urban areas,” he said, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to attaining Universal Health Care Coverage.

Like Tunji Alausa and Professor Ali Pate have done, we urge Nigerian medical professionals living abroad to give up their time in order to return home and help their community.

As they say, “Charity begins at home,” think about the contributions you make here at home.
