Babatunji Wusu –
The abductors of Folorunsho Ariyo, a secondary school student, killed her. She was abducted along with her family in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)’s Dutse axis.
On January 7, 2024, eleven people—including Folorunsho, her mother, and three siblings—were abducted by gunmen who broke into Sagwari Layout Estate in Dutse.
The bodies of four kidnapped victims were reportedly dumped at Ida, close to Ushafa in Bwari Area Council, along with the remains of Folorunsho and Nabeeeha Al-kadriyar.
The youngster was the daughter of the National University Commission’s (NUC) Chief Legal Officer, who was born in Ekiti State, according to the Nigerian Tribune.
Family sources told the publication that the Ariyo family could only raise roughly N5 million to free their members, and that the kidnappers had wanted a ransom of N60 million.
According to a family source, “as of last Friday, talks were still ongoing, and we were optimistic of a positive outcome until we were contacted to pick up her body.”
On Sunday, January 14, 2024, the teenage girl was buried in Abuja’s Dutse Cemetery; the other family members are still with their kidnappers.
