Manchester United announced on Tuesday that John Murtough will stand down as football director after nearly 11 years with the club.

“John has mutually agreed with us that now is the right time to step aside and allow the new football leadership structure to be put in place,” Manchester United co-Chairman Joel Glazer stated.

The announcement comes months after British businessman Jim Ratcliffe took over football operations at the Premier League club by purchasing a 25% share for $1.25 billion USD.

The club’s dominant ownership remains with the American Glazer family.
