Babatunji Wusu –

Wangida Isa, a Kano-based lawyer, has recommended the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, to quit honourably due to corruption charges.
Remember that a viral video from 2017 showed Ganduje allegedly taking bundles of dollar bills as a bribe from a contractor and slipping them into the pockets of his flowing gown.

The former Kano Governor rejected the contents of the film when it initially aired and maintained his innocence, but years later, Governor Abba Yusuf revived the subject, pledging to pursue his predecessor.

The Kano High Court is scheduled to arraign Ganduje on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, on charges of bribery, diversion, and theft of money, including the alleged receipt of $413,000 and N1.38 billion in bribes.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Morning Brief on Tuesday, the lawyer urged Ganduje to quit his post until he cleared the corruption charges against him.

The lawyer termed the allegations against the ex-governor as “heavy offenses,” and suggested that the APC national chairman be asked to quit office until he is cleared of the corruption case.

Isa stated that Ganduje had not been exonerated because the court ruled that he should be tried in federal court because the state government’s money laundering charges against him were considered federal offenses.

The lawyer stated that ward executives were constitutionally empowered to terminate any party member, refuting charges that the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) arranged Ganduje’s suspension through some APC executives at the ward level.
