On Friday, Kano’s 16th Emir, Muhammad Sanusi II, attended the Juma’at ceremony at the Kofar Kudu Central Mosque in Kano, the state capital.
Following the extended war for Kano Emirate rule, the Central Mosque was under strict protection.
According to the Daily Trust, there were many local security operators, including vigilantes and hunters, as well as Department of State Service (DSS) and police officers.
Recall that on Thursday, it was reported that the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, would attend Juma’at prayer at Kofar Kudu Central Mosque, where Emir Sanusi is also anticipated to attend.
However, the Kano State Police Command denied the reports, stating that Ado Bayero had been scheduled to attend the Jummat service at the Nassarawa small palace.
The command also stated that the police and other state security agencies would provide appropriate security at the Palace, where Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is set to perform Jumma’at prayers.
It recommended members of the public to disregard false allegations and misinformation circulating on social media and to go about their business without fear of molestation or harassment.
The command stated that the Police will continue to provide the necessary security to ensure that residents can attend their Friday congressional prayers quietly and without fear for their lives or property.
