“Gunmen Open Fire on Security Guard at Rivers APP Secretariat”

Gunmen have attacked the Action Peoples Party (APP) secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, shooting a security guard in the process. The incident, which took place at midnight, follows less than a month after the party’s New GRA secretariat was bombed.

Sunny Wokekoro, the APP’s state chairman, addressed journalists at the scene on Wednesday. He noted that the specifics of the shooting remain unclear but confirmed that the injured security guard is receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.

Wokekoro expressed apprehension about the police’s ability to identify the perpetrators, citing a lack of updates on the previous bombing incident. Despite these challenges, he emphasized that such attacks will not prevent the APP from participating in the upcoming local government elections.

While hospital staff did not permit journalists to speak with the injured guard, Wokekoro reassured the public of the party’s determination to continue its activities and not be swayed by violence.
