Olubunmi Okeniyi, a Nigerian woman who recently relocated to the United Kingdom with her husband and two children, has tragically passed away just weeks after their arrival. The founder of the Nigerians in the UK Community, Oluomo of Derby, confirmed her death in a statement on Monday.
Olubunmi arrived in Sunderland on September 16, 2024, and died on October 13. In light of this unexpected loss, the community has expressed its condolences and initiated a GoFundMe campaign to help cover her burial expenses.
The statement conveyed: “With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Mrs. Olubunmi Okeniyi, who tragically passed away on 13/10/24 at 4:30 PM in Sunderland, UK. Mrs. Okeniyi, who moved from Nigeria with her two sons, is survived by her husband, Mr. Jacob Okeniyi. We are urgently seeking donations to assist with her immediate burial, as her husband cannot afford the costs.”
