Governor Alex Otti has approved the implementation of a minimum wage of ₦70,000 for workers in Abia State. At a press conference following this week’s Executive Council meeting in Umuahia, State Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, emphasized the governor’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of the workforce.
The new minimum wage is set to take effect by the end of October 2024, with payments expected to commence in the coming days. This initiative aims to support workers and improve their living standards in the state. Further details are anticipated shortly.
