The Rivers State Government has appealed a Federal High Court ruling in Abuja that restricts the Central Bank of Nigeria from disbursing federal allocations to the state. This development follows an attempted impeachment of Governor Siminalayi Fubara by the state House of Assembly, reportedly led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, who is allied with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Joseph Johnson, confirmed the appeal and in a telephone interview with The Premier News Correspondent in Port- Harcourt. He stated in confidence that the Appeal Court will reverse the ruling. “We believe justice will prevail,” Johnson declared!
