A 60-year-old man, Sabi’u Yusha’u, tragically lost his life after falling into an abandoned well at the CBN Quarters along Hadejia Road in Kano.
The incident was confirmed by the Kano State Fire Service, which received a distress call at approximately 10:35 p.m. from one of their personnel, PFS II Sabo Wada Abdullahi. Saminu Abdullahi, the Public Relations Officer for the Fire Service, stated that a rescue team was promptly mobilized and arrived at the scene by 10:50 p.m..
Upon arrival, the team found Sabi’u Yusha’u Unguwa Uku, who had fallen into the well. The victim was unconscious when rescued and was immediately transported to Sir Sunusi Hospital for medical evaluation, where doctors confirmed his death.
According to Abdullahi, the victim had been driving the car of the first wife of the Minister of Defense and had stopped nearby to drop off some guests. Afterward, Yusha’u stepped out with the intention of urinating but unknowingly approached an open well, which was covered with debris. As he stepped on the side of the well cover, it gave way, causing him to fall into the water, leading to his tragic death.
The body of the deceased was later handed over to Corporal Faruku Musa of Dakata Police Division in Kano for further action.
