Alexander Isak’s brace helped Newcastle United secure a 3-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s, lifting the Magpies to fourth in the Premier League standings. Southampton took the lead in the 10th minute through a powerful header from captain Jan Bednarek. However, Newcastle responded with a penalty from Isak in the 26th minute after a VAR review, followed by a stunning curling finish just four minutes later to put Newcastle in front.

Sandro Tonali made it 3-1 with a well-placed shot, and Southampton’s hopes of a late rally were dashed when Mateus Fernandes’ goal in the 84th minute was ruled offside after another VAR check. The win takes Newcastle to fourth place, while Southampton’s struggles continue, leaving them at the bottom of the Premier League.
