A tragic accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway near Ayetoro claimed nine lives and left three others injured on Monday morning. The crash, which occurred around 5:30 am, involved a Toyota bus (number plate UYY165ZY) and a truck (registration DKA244XC).

According to Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash occurred when the bus driver lost control, likely due to excessive speed and fatigue, and collided with a stationary truck.

The victims included nine fatalities—six male and three female adults—and three injured individuals. The injured were transported to Famobis Hospital in Mowe, while the deceased were taken to Idera morgue in Sagamu.

The Sector Commander expressed regret over the incident, criticizing driver recklessness, including the failure to adhere to the speed limit and the recommended 15-minute rest after every four hours of driving. He sympathized with the victims’ families and urged them to contact the Mowe unit Command for more details.
