The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a safety warning to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna ahead of an upcoming live-fire training exercise. The exercise, set to take place from February 26 to March 1, forms part of the advanced application of fire training for the Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course.

Maj. Muhammad Maidawa, the academy’s Public Relations Officer, highlighted that the exercise would involve live firing, essential for the cadets’ development. To ensure safety, the NDA will place barriers and warning signs around the range areas to indicate restricted zones.

Residents, particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle rearers, have been urged to strictly follow the safety instructions and avoid the area during the exercise. Maidawa reassured the public that the safety and well-being of nearby communities remain a top priority, and their cooperation is crucial for both their safety and the success of the training. This precautionary measure aims to prevent harm to civilians while ensuring the effective conduct of the military training.
