The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fiercely condemned the Tony Okocha-led All Progressives Congress (APC) for demanding Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s resignation or impeachment.
Okocha, during a fiery press conference, gave the governor 48 hours to step down, accusing him of mismanaging the state and dragging Rivers into chaos. He even claimed the Supreme Court’s ruling suggested the state had no functional government, citing alleged impeachable offenses.
But PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Sydney Tambari Gbara, hit back, dismissing the ultimatum as baseless. Gbara declared Okocha a political opportunist, known for “speaking from both sides of his mouth” and making “illogical utterances” disconnected from reality.
“Nobody in Rivers State takes Tony Okocha’s comments seriously anymore because of his past antecedents,” Gbara asserted, brushing aside the threat as political noise.
