Europe to Hit Back If Trump Slams Tariffs

Europe will respond proportionately if U.S. President Donald Trump imposes new tariffs on global trading partners, French Industry Minister Marc Ferracci has said.

Ferracci, speaking on Wednesday, stressed that while Europe would defend its interests, it would not escalate tensions under any circumstances.

“Europe has always been on the side of negotiation and calming things down because trade wars, you know, only produce losers,” he said.

Reports indicate that Trump is set to announce sweeping new reciprocal tariffs, a move that has sparked fears of price hikes and potential retaliatory measures from affected nations.
