President Bola Tinubu has sworn- in two commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and two members of board of the Code of Conduct Bureau.
The four officers took their oaths of office at the council chambers of the Aso rock villa on Monday, just before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council meeting.
The new INEC Commissioners are Mallam Tukur Abdulrazaq Yusuf, representing Northwest , Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja, representing south east.
Speaking to state house correspondents after the short ceremony,the INEC Chairman, Prof Mahmoud Yakubu hinted that the swearing- in of the two INEC commissioners has become necessary following their screening and consequent confirmation by the national assembly.
Speaking further on the proposed Electoral bill on the floor of the national assembly, the INEC boss revealed that following the 2023 elections,over 140 recommendations were submitted by the commission to the federal parliament while several engaging platforms have been created towards ensuring a holistic electoral act before 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the two members of Board of the Code of Conduct Bureau, which were also sworn in on Monday are Ikpeme Kenneth Ndem, from Cross River State State and Hon. Justice Buba Ibrahim Nyaure Rtd, from Taraba State.
