-Striker misses training ahead of WAFCON showdown
-Nigeria face Zambia in Casablanca for semi-final spot

Montpellier forward Ifeoma Onumonu may miss Nigeria’s crucial Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) quarter-final against Zambia after sitting out of training on Wednesday due to injury.

The 31-year-old, who has made just one appearance at the ongoing tournament in Morocco, is now in a race against time to prove her fitness before Friday’s encounter at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Onumonu played 54 minutes in the Super Falcons’ goalless draw against Algeria last Sunday, her only appearance so far at the 2024 WAFCON. Her absence could pose a tactical setback for Nigeria’s head coach, who may have to reshuffle the attack if she fails to recover.

The upcoming match will mark only the second time Nigeria and Zambia meet at the WAFCON. With a semi-final spot at stake, the Super Falcons will aim to maintain their dominance on the continent despite injury concerns.

Kickoff is scheduled for Friday, and all eyes will be on team updates to confirm Onumonu’s availability.
