Commends appointments into NWC as bold step for future of young Nigerians
Says party is setting the pace for inclusive governance

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has applauded the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for appointing young Nigerians into key leadership positions within its National Working Committee (NWC), describing the move as “true leadership in action.”

Atiku, who ran for president in the 2023 general elections, reacted on Friday to the announcement of new youthful appointments in the ADC’s NWC. He noted that the party was not merely making statements about youth inclusion but actively proving it through deliberate actions.

Those appointed include Bilyaminu Duhu as Assistant National Youth Leader (North East), Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hassana Dada as Assistant National Youth Leader (North Central), David Itokpa as Deputy National Welfare Secretary, and Hauwa Yusuf as Deputy National Secretary.

Taking to his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Atiku congratulated the new appointees and praised the ADC for giving young people a rightful place in national discourse and party leadership.

He wrote, “Congratulations to the vibrant young members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)—Bilyaminu Duhu, Jackie Wayas (@JWEZEE), Hassana Dada, David Itokpa (@iamhistory_), Hauwa Yusuf (@itz_hawee), and others—on their well-deserved appointments to the party’s National Working Committee.

“The @ADCNig is no longer just speaking about youth inclusion; it is now boldly demonstrating it in action.

“Indeed, the future of our youth must not be shaped in their absence, and I commend the ADC for setting a powerful example by giving them a seat at the table where decisions are made.

“This is what true leadership looks like—not just talking the talk, but walking it with purpose.”

Atiku’s remarks align with rising calls across the country for greater youth involvement in politics, governance, and policymaking, especially as the 2027 elections begin to loom on the national horizon.
