A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member in Lagos, Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as “Raye,” has accused the scheme of withholding her discharge certificate in retaliation for her public criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Uguamaye, who went viral earlier this year for a TikTok video describing Lagos as a “smelling state” and blasting the Tinubu government, alleged in a fresh social media post that NYSC officials deliberately sabotaged her clearance process.

She claimed her Local Government Inspector repeatedly ordered her to “go to the back” during the April clearance, eventually seizing her file and refusing to attend to her. According to her, she was later told she would not receive her discharge certificate because she allegedly missed the exercise — an accusation she firmly denies.

“I genuinely wish I wasn’t a Lagos State corps member because it’s a waste of my time,” Uguamaye posted online, adding that she has decided to move on from the matter.

The NYSC has yet to respond to the allegations. Multiple calls and messages to the scheme’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Edwin Megwa, went unanswered.
