Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has revealed that the tragic death of his close friend and collaborator, Mohbad, forced him to re-evaluate life and embrace a new perspective.
Speaking in a recent livestream with TikToker Joblaq, Shmurda said Mohbad’s passing left a deep impact on him, triggering a period of self-rediscovery and clarity.
“RIP Mohbad. After he passed away, my brain reset, everything changed. The way I see things in life also changed,” he said.
He added that he now understands certain truths about life, likening the experience to the lessons parents warn their children about while growing up.
“There’s a time that our parents use to tell us when we misbehave, ‘Don’t worry, very soon you will understand.’ I’m currently in that phase where I’m starting to understand. I have understood certain things,” Shmurda noted.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, a loss that shook Nigeria’s music industry and sparked nationwide conversations about mental health, record label disputes, and the welfare of young artists.
