Benue State House of Assembly Speaker, Aondona Dajoh, has resigned from office, ending his tenure with an appeal for peace in the state.
In a handwritten letter dated August 24, 2025, and posted on his Facebook page with the caption “Let there be peace”, Dajoh announced his decision to step aside. He described the move as one taken “in good faith and in the best interest of the state.”
The lawmaker expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the privilege of serving as “the first among equals” and assured his constituents in Gboko West of continued commitment to legislative duties.
Dajoh’s resignation marks a significant shift in the state’s political landscape, coming at a time when the Assembly has been under pressure to navigate internal and external political tensions.
