Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, better known as Phyna, has accused Dangote Group of reneging on its pledge to sponsor her younger sister’s medical treatment overseas.
Phyna’s sister, Ruth, suffered a tragic accident on August 13, 2025, near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, when she was struck by a Dangote truck allegedly driven by an underage and unlicensed driver. The crash occurred just six days after her graduation, leaving her with an amputated left leg and her right leg at risk.
In a series of emotional updates on Wednesday, Phyna disclosed that after visiting her sister in person, she realized the severity of Ruth’s condition was far worse than initially reported.
The reality TV star said she entered discussions with Dangote Group, which initially agreed to her request to have Ruth flown to India for advanced medical care. However, Ruth was first transferred to Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, where Phyna was asked to submit a comprehensive medical report.
According to her, the company later backtracked, insisting on seeking further medical advice before making any decision. She added that officials demanded another confirmation from Lagoon Hospital stating Ruth’s case could not be managed locally.
Phyna revealed that her main contact at the company has ignored her messages for more than 24 hours, fueling doubts about the sincerity of Dangote Group’s commitment.
Calling on Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, to personally step in, Phyna declared: “My sister’s life must not be put at risk. She needs urgent care and it’s beyond what local hospitals can handle. Dangote must keep to their words.”
The development has sparked outrage online, with many Nigerians urging swift intervention to save Ruth’s life.
