Atu Terver, Principal Special Assistant on Youth and Media Mobilization to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, has claimed that diabolical items were buried at the popular Wurukum roundabout in Makurdi, the state capital.

The roundabout, recently demolished to make way for a Federal Government-funded flyover after Governor Alia’s appeal, sparked controversy among critics who dismissed the move as unnecessary.

Defending the demolition, Terver described it as “the best thing that happened to Benue State,” insisting that the site had been a hub of spiritual bondage. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, he argued that the removal of the roundabout neutralized alleged charms and sacrifices buried there, paving the way for peace and development.

“Some things are more spiritual than physical and it takes more than the physical eyes of a highly spiritual person like Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia to see them,” Terver wrote. He claimed that the spiritual cleansing has not only stopped frequent accidents at the site but has also opened doors for “massive development” across the state.

According to him, Governor Alia’s priestly background gives him the spiritual insight to uproot negative forces, which he said had long hindered progress. He added that the “healing mass” slogan of the administration is yielding results, pointing to developmental strides recorded within the governor’s first two years in office.

Terver maintained that the demolition of the roundabout would further accelerate growth during the remaining six years of Alia’s tenure.
